WALKING DRAWINGS
Angela Ellsworth has long mixed performance with elements of traditional drawing. Her series of walking drawings explores the possibilities of mark-making in the context of a body in motion. Each work merges the images and experiences of a single walk, including tally marks that count the total number of steps taken on the walk. The drawings become both a record of the action of walking and a recollection of the excursion as a whole. At once radical yet reminiscent of familiar spaces, the drawings create public meditations on Ellsworth’s experiences of walking towards people she misses.
