Stains
Deep Creek Exhibition
Telluride, Colorado

This performance examines the persistence of “stains” marked in fabrics of memory and corporeal bodies. The juxtaposition of “stain remedies” with personal narrative culminates in a multi-media performance which communicates an absurd attempt to eliminate embedded stains and/or live with the permanent ones. The project asks, what stains are uncovered due to histories of social, sexual, and medical control of individual experience? Which stains reflect or refract the strategies of an image obsessed culture? How do we construct live performance around a body politic that is already predetermined? How are “stains” from memory communicated from performer to audience?
