Christopher Bergland

Ellsworth has collaborated with world renowned tri-athlete, Christopher Bergland, since 2000. She parallels her studio practice with his training routine and ritual. Bergland ran a marathon on a treadmill in the installation Drawing on Breath. He has won three Triple Ironman races and he took second place in 2003 at the Kiehl’s Badwater Race race that starts in Death Valley (280 feet below sea level) and finishes at the Mt. Whitney Portals (nearly 8,300 feet above sea level.) In 2004 he beat a world record running the longest distance on a treadmill in a 24-hour period.
